Miami were three games to two down to the San Antonio Spurs in the 2013 NBA Finals, and three points down with under thirty seconds left in Game 6, one defeat from handing San Antonio the championship. LeBron James missed a three, Miami took the offensive rebound, and the ball came out to Ray Allen as he retreated towards the corner.
Allen caught it, took one step backwards to plant his feet behind the three-point line without looking down to find it, and released with 5.2 seconds remaining. It dropped through for 95-95 and overtime. Miami won the extra period, then took Game 7 two nights later for the franchise's third championship.
One possession stood between Miami's season ending and a deciding seventh game, and it turned on a shooter who knew where the line was by feel. That step back into the corner gets replayed more than the shot does.
